VirtuaLab® includes a suite of simulation tools that let you visualize how different coil designs will perform—before anything goes into production. It’s a powerful tool to explore “what if” scenarios, reduce physical prototyping, and ensure the coil you specify performs exactly as expected in the field.

VirtuaLab® allows multiple fluids to be simulated including R410a, R22, R407C, R404A, R507A, CO2 evaporation, Propylene Glycol, Steam, and Water. Both evaporation and condensation can be modeled using several input and output options.


The heart of VirtuaLab® is the tube-by-tube model that allows a wide range of circuiting options. VirtuaLab is capable of simulating dropped tubes, tapered circuits, integrated sub-coolers in evaporators, and multiple slab coils.


Because real world coils rarely see uniform velocity, VirtuaLab® offers the user the ability to specify a different velocity profile for the inlet and outlet. Choose from pre-defined profiles including uniform, linear, exponential, parabolic, duct flow, or an inclined coil profile; or you can create your own profile using our custom profile tool.


There are numerous ways to view the solution data with VirtuaLab®. The user interface will show the overall performance with the traditional outputs found in most software packages. However, it is possible to dig a little deeper into the coil performance by using the plotting tools.


With the plotting tools you can look at each tubes performance for leaving temperature, pressure, quality, fluid velocity, or enthalpy1. It is also possible to view the performance of each circuit. Either option will provide additional insight into coil performance that will allow a coil to be designed to better match your application. 1. a thermodynamic quantity equivalent to the total heat content of a system. It is equal to the internal energy of the system plus the product of pressure and volume.
